Fully committed to his passion for writing classical music, his initial background in jazz and modern music helped Mr. Morales have an extensive inner musical universe.
Jordi started his music education with Dick Them. He studied double bass, bass and voice, Jazz and modern music at Taller de Músics de Barcelona, where he had his first encounter with composition in a series of master classes with Lluís Vergés. From 2007 to 2009 he lived in New York City where he played music and studied vocal technique. In 2012 he started composition studies with Lluís Vergés. In 2014 he started a bachelor in composition at Taller de Músics under Enric Palomar. In 2022 he started a bachelor in conducting at ESMUC under maestros Jordi Mora, Irene Delgado and Diego Naser (orchesta) and maestro Josep Vila (choir).
Jordi has worked as a composer for diverse projects, notably his poem Bressant el Dol, for soprano and orchestra (premiered in Barcelona in 2014); The Raven Suite for the dance-theatre play Nevermore, inspired by the life of Edgar Allan Poe (Barcelona, 2017); The music for choreographer Teresa García Valenzuela's physical theatre soliloquy Hueco (Barcelona, 2018); his poem for tenor and orchestra Superheroi or the theme with variations Relat Robat for mixed choir and symphonic band. He arranged and orchestrated music for Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, Orfeó Català and the Sant Esteve christmas concert 2024 at Palau de la Música Catalana, the orchestra Oh! Terrassa, as well as renowned pianists Pascal Rogé & Elena Font and Carlos & Sofia. He has also written music for short films, webseries, commercials and theatre.
As a conductor he currently leads the Centro Asturiano de Barcelona choir since 2024 and has worked with diverse ensembles, symphony orchestras and choirs, both at ESMUC and in music schools in Catalonia.
At present, he’s working on new projects while studying conducting.
